    Hello everyone!

I am new to the forum and I am looking for an answer whether or not is the
dial on the watch original. The case is 35mm without crown, in excellent
condition, has all the hallmarks that it should. Seems that it was polished
before, but nothing drastic. The crown appears to be original, without the
fish logo. The handset also appears to be original as it matches nicely to
eachother and to the hourmarkers on the dial. However, the hourmarkers appear
to me not to be quite crisp as they should and they have some paint on them.
The logo seems to be a little different to what I have seen online, but maybe
its due to many dial suppliers they used back in the days. The SWISS on the
bottom appears to be quite smaller compared to others I have found online, but
again, maybe just due to many manufacturers. The number of the movement and
the case match perfectly to 1965 so I do not think its a franken. But the logo
is very strange indeed. Its raised as you can see but the font is a bit off.
Thanks a lot for your imput and time!

    Best regards,

    Matej

Welcome to the Forum and nice watch, it appears to be in great condition.

In order to help us form an opinion on the dial, can you give us some
    background to work with:

•Is the watch yours and how long have you had it? Do you know any of it's
    history?

•Are you thinking of buying it?

•Are you thinking of selling it?

    Hello Mark,

I have just recently acquired the watch, according to seller it was all
original, but once it arrived the logo kind of struck me and now I am unsure
of his opinion. The movement is in excellent condition, stying in between -4
to +2 seconds a day which is unbelievable taking into account its age and
unknown service history. The dial is my only thing that I would call redone in
this case. But wanted to validate my view with IWC collectors. Thanks for the
    reply.

It is very difficult to verify dials from photographs as they can be
    misleading.

I have 3 observations which I will list below, but please remember, I could be
    completely wrong......

I repeat that it is a really nice Watch. You should enjoy it and you should
    not worry about the dial!

    1. Dial appears very clean and white compared to the slight patina on the
    hands.

    2. The Script appears somewhat Broad.

    3. Index markers appear to be painted over, and should look like this...

I agree with Mark, particularly with regard to the thickness of the font. It
was once explained to me that some dial refinishers have the actual stamp or
die for the signature, but they are typically older, well used tools that
produce a font that seems broad. Still, a very attractive watch. I certainly
couldn't blame the seller for thinking it's an original dial. Besides the
thickness of the letters, the shape and space seems spot on.

So my vote would be Refinished, but based only on my opinion and not by
    evidence.
