    Good afternoon all.

First I have to say it is an amazing job you've done to put this website
together. Well done to all involved.

As to my questions, I've recently been given a couple of, from what my amateur
eye can see, IWC's and I'm curious to learn a little more about them.

    1) A men's wrist watch, automatic, gold with gold bracelet/strap - bought in
1977 in Hong Kong, I gather

    2) An older piece (I believe), pocket watch - I'm not sure of the origin or
    history.

I have attached a couple of photos and hope to hear from you on what you think
    they might be.

(Apologies for the quality of the pictures - I think my phone is about the
same age as these watches and not quite up to the task)!

Thanks again and keep up the good work.

    Nic

    Hi Nic

I can't tell you anything about the wristwatch, but the Pocket Watch is
    probably a
Cal 52 Lepine from around 1912 to 1915.

As to Why there is no script on the dial - I have no idea.

Thanks Mark - I appreciate that.

I have seen a couple of photos similar to this one on the inter-web, both with
and without the script on the face, and did suspect that was the approx era.
(although hard to be sure as I confess to knowing absolutely nothing about
    watches)!

However, I haven't seen anything like this wristwatch during my many hours
trawling the darkest crevices of the internet so I'm intrigued to hear what
someone might have to say about that one too!

Thank you again for your input.

    Hi Gone2theBar,

the wristwatch in your picture is most probably a Ref. 3278. It comes with a
Jaeger le Coultre based movement IWC Cal. 3254.

The image shown below is taken from Greg Steers site showing the IWC Catalog
    dating 1981.

Thanks all for your replies - yes, Cromagnonman, that does indeed look
remarkably similar. Although I do think the face on mine needs a good looking
to. There's about 40 years' worth of grime on it...

Mark - yours is a beautiful example. The yellow gold really makes the face
'shine' and I particularly like the slightly offset second hands on this one -
slightly to the right of centre. Lovely watch. :)

Anyway, thanks again to you all for your replies. I'm now off to the local
smith to see how I can get the chain made smaller. It was seemingly on the arm
of a gorilla before I got it!

    Kind regards,

    Nic
