I am a new member and first time poster. Hopefully this is the right forum.

I recently purchased an IWC Compass Porsche Design vintage watch from the 1980s. The watch is the miliary green pvd-coated timepiece.

Unfortunately, when the watch arrived, the compass pop-in part was not functioning. IWC does not have a replacement part and there wasn't another fix for the problem. (IWC has a black pvd coated compass vintage part, but I don't want to mix and match the colours.)

Does anyone on the forum know of where I might find a replacement compass part?

The watch is otherwise working great and is in good a shape, but I would really like to get the compass working.

Hello and welcome to the forum. A nice watch you bought, special and underrated for the moment I believe.
There were not a lot olive compass watches, so finding a replacement for the compass will not be easy.

You say IWC can supply / provide a black compass that fits your PD.

If I was you I would send the watch back to Schaffhausen for service and agree that they replace the compass with a black one.

Rather a complete watch than a non functioning one.

Thanks for your replies. I almost bought one on eBay for the green part alone. Unfortunately, the price of the watch got out of control. I will keep my eyes open. There are lots of the black PVDs kicking around. Perhaps I eventually will just buy the black one to wear and can swap out the compass when it suits me.

Is IWC like Rolex in the sense that they keep original parts when they replace them at service? i.e. If I bought the black compass insert would they keep the broken green one?
