As per my other post today in community, I am excited to have my TopGun Double Chrono back from a service today and had the camera out so thought I would get a picture of my 2 "flyers" - my 3799 and "Endna" my pet white Cockatiel (note, not technically albino)- she is super curious and as you can see from the second photo, the cause of some of the damage to my strap, but she does suck up a lot and likes a pat so what I am gonna do . . .
Thanks Clemens, for a couple of "quick happy snaps" I spent way too much time getting these right. 2 golden rules of photography were going against me on these ones - dont work with animals, and dont shoot in the snow without the right equipment. Whilst I was not in the snow, Edna is as white as the snow and makes taking a properly exposed photo just as difficult. With the limited capabilities of my ageing P&S I managed to stop the camera down 2 stops, change the metering to spot metering, meter on the bird, refocus on the watch and get a half decent shot with the limited flash - in only took about 8 shots to get them . . . . :)
Ben, we definately now do understand the "fraid" edges on the nylon strap - LOL.
Definitely a need for kevelar there!
But never mind about all of that....that's a great looking pair of flyers indeed. exactly the type of photos we all enjoy so much here. I see a "Bill chasing a cockatoo around his basement photo studio" scenario coming up here soon.
Thanks, We are not sure, she is a rescue. Her previous owners discarded her - they left her in a filthy cage, on the edge of the road (not on the footpath but on the road), wrapped in chicken wire (I guess they thought that if they were going to throw here way in the middle of the road they should at least protect her from cats and other animals), with a pack of seed next to the cage and a sign stuck to it saying "Please take me" .
From the way she acted when we first took her in and how she has developed over the last year, we think she was less than 3 months old when we found her, putting her at around 12-15 months now. She has a great personality and just loves spending time with people (she will sit under my chin when I have a little stubble and wait until I start moving my head so she can be rubbed by my stubble), but can be a complete terror at times (we now have to use wireless keyboards and mice on computers as she has chewed thru the cables of the old ones!).
Whilst there is no watch in this one, I thought I would update this one with a quick picture of the other "Flyer" - Buddy that I got last night.
He is also a rescue but we got him when he was older - we are unsure of how old he is but given how grumpy he is we think he is getting on. He cant be handled like Edna but will still land on you from time to time especially when there is some pasta or rice about, he loves it!
what a sad story Ben with so far with a happy ending...so glad that you found her...loving animals and nice watches is a great combination! cheers, simius
