Like last year, IWC is a sponsor of the Tribecca Film Festival in New York. On April 9, IWC and Antiquorum will auction a unique red gold chronograph in support of the festival. You can read about it by clicking here.

In addition to the red gold piece, there will be a limited edition of 100 steel watches (see this linkfor more information. Last year, the limited edition --available through the NYC boutique-- quickly sold out, and expect the same this time around.

In my opinion, the rose gold version looks much nicer, the gold colour of the case making the Bordeaux-red subdials look less dominant. But this Spitfire Chrono is such a beautiful and interesting watch. In about half a year a lot of people here will have one...

    Kind regards,
    Paul

I think the colours work very nicely. It takes a good looking watch and makes it more interesting.

Ahh, not my favorite dial. The red is not to my taste.

I believe the burgundy color is the color of the film festival.

I would need to see it in the flesh but I think the colour looks sharp. In the picture anyways. :-)

Will be interesting to see an actual photo not just a digital rendition. The spitfire is such a great base platform it is tough to make it better.

The one-of-a-kind gold model sold for a hammer price of $55,000, far in excess of its $25,000 high estimate. In addition to this one-of-a-kind timepiece, the winning bidder will receive VIP access to the Tribeca Film Festival, luxury hotel accommodation, and an invitation to IWC’s "For the love of Cinema” private dinner.

Gee, if you think about what other watches you could buy for $55,000...

    Kind regards,

Do you think they will have a Tribeca watch every year? Going through the different collections? Portuguese, pilot, maybe portofino next year.....
