Hello!
I'm close to making my first IWC purchase and would like to sound out some views before taking this very exciting step. I was very certain of the black chrono (Spitfire) until visiting a boutique and trying on the slate model, which looks astonishing in person. This is now my preferred choice.
However, on further research, i found the BFI edition with steel bracelet online. Not seen anywhere in stores yet so don't know what it would look like on my wrist.
Appreciate beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that any purchase is subjective, but does anyone have any thoughts on these different models. Is the BFI edition significantly different to the slate/black in terms of movements/caliber that makes this a must have? Aware two sub-dials, colour and increased water resistance being the main differences.
In this budget range, value retention is not necessarily a key consideration for me, although it is nice to know the desirability of a watch grows with time. The key factors for me are style/aesthetics and reliability, which the Pilot has in abundance.
Would really value your thoughts/opinions on the matter and the things that i should be looking out for given i new to this game.
Many thanks,
ProperT
