as some of you may know I had changed from the original pin buckle of the 3779 Top Gun to a deployment clasp & buckle. The new buckle was titanium coated.

The chief reason was the change was because I had not used a pin buckle for 10 years, and I feared not being accustomed to it, and (horror) dropping the precious timepiece ! I may change it back in the year ahead - seeing how things go :)

Once it was switched, the strap as you folks would expect, become looser - and given that I was already on the smallest hole of the normal strap, I had ordered from Flagship the shorter strap. It arrived this week, and Gary was very kind to change it for me.

Here are some pics in case some of u 3779 lovers are considering the change. Do note this is the normal buckle, and not the upcoming Probus Scafusia buckle.

Very nice! I think a folding buckle would make the strap last longer as well, which is a big plus!

I have done the same thing with my 3799, mainly because the pin buckle causes horrible wear and tear to the strap (my strap was falling to pieces after about 6 months). My 5001 has the deployment clasp by default and it feels like a easier way to take on and off.

    Hi Shing,

i ve just recently been offered the same timepiece.
And going through the forum, and having been seduce in IWC shop and new top gun version with the deployment clasp & strap, i d like to change it too.

I also get a small wrist so i may have to change clasp+strap.

Can you just let me know how much it cost you to change both ?

    Thanks,
    Hetsfield.

Morning Hetsfield, and welcome to the forum. As this is a non-commercial forum, I can't comment here on the cost - can I trouble u to drop me an email and we take this offline ?

    cheers,

Good choice! I prefer folding clasps too, for security reasons and they are kinder on the strap.

    Kind regards,

    Clemens
