I got into watches about 16 months ago. A Portuguese was what caught my eye at first, but my first purchase was not an IWC. Fast forward a year and many watches bought and sold later, mostly because a lot of them just didn't have staying power, I finally bought my first IWC. It is shown here, a 5001-07, and I am fast becoming an IWC fan. In fact, I recently purchased a used 3227-01 as well, which I quickly shipped off to the service center for a full service. It's due back in 3 weeks or so I can't wait another minute. Although at this point, I'm ready to add a third watch, but will hold on until we see what IWC will do to the Pilot range.

Here are some pictures of my 5001. It's every bit as beautiful as I imagined before purchasing it. It's at home on the blue strap as it is on the brown.

Congrats Ken, a beautiful watch and some nice shots! I thought about the white version when I bought mine but went with the black dial instead - when I see shots like yours I wish I had the white but am happy with what I have.

    Hi Ken,
congratulation to this fantastic watch. Very nice shots.
I have owned this model for two years out of the box with the blue strap and had to say, that the dark brown strap even looks better imo.
    Enjoy your watch all times.

Great watch, Ken! It is always a favorite whenever someone posts a picture of this model.

I always go weak in the knees when Shing pists his 5001-14.

Hope to see a collection shot of yours soon!

What a marvelous IWC to start your collection. I say start, because as you know you are now infected with the IWC uhren-virus. There is no cure. Congratulations on your acquisition.

    Hello Zyxtrimer,

Would you mind posting a pic of your watch with brown strap ? I also have a black face and when I was purchasing the watch I wanted to get the brown strap as well but AD told me that he doesn't recommend this combination. That's why I wonder how it looks. Anyway white dial looks stunning with brown strap combo
