Last night in Hong Kong we had plans for a great get-together with 5 Hong Kong collectors, but Typhoon Linfa had other plans for us:

I've never been through a cyclone, but we were told that businesses closed and even the subway stopped running. So when the warning escalated to an 8, on a scale of 1 to 8, the group had to cancel.

But one intrepid member decided to brave the elements and drive, notwithstanding the weather, to our hotel after dinner. And it was for a very good cause:

That guy was Kelvin Leung, who occasionally posts here and also moderates a Chinese language forum. Kelvin couldn't find a CF3 in Hong Kong --they are sold out here-- but was fortunate to locate one on a business trip to Las Vegas.

Here's a photo of me with the cyclone-fearless Kelvin:

It was a memorable meeting. Tonight the rest of the group hopes to meet and I think you'll like the reports.

Nice effort Kelvin! Not sure I would have headed out in that sort of storm.

Michael, it was a pleasure for me to meet you and Kay in person finally!

Too bad the storm has ruined our plan. Nonetheless, I was glad we could meet up.

Hope you have had an enjoyable stay in Hong Kong, and in Asia.

no... that would have been the Portuguese you were thinking of. Hey, perhaps MF would make another CF using a Portuguese...
