    Hello Friends

Today I got a crypric E-Mail. Someone asked me If I am interested in:

    A K 56 Kalaschnikoff

The person who asked me knows: I am a watch collector.

Has someone a suggestion if I, as IWC collector, should reply on such an
    E-Mail?

    regards watch

    Hi Ralph,

    I'd reply as follows:

    Dear X,

I have recently narrowed my collection and decided to no longer collect those
    with military markings.

In light of the above I do have a spare barrel for an IWC Calibre 56 for sale.

    Kind Regards.

    Enjoy the festive season.

    Cheers from the cellar

    Hi Ralph,

I have seen a titel of an advert of this on ebay.

But in the text a pocket watch was offered. I did not understand it and
    fortunately it has been removed.

    Regards,

    Adrian,.

Finally I could solve the "Problem"

A K 56 Kalaschnikoff, has nothing to to with an AK 47.

It is A K al. 56 Savonette * pocket watch delivered with a
    named dial and "cuvette" to
    *Kalaschnikoff & Fils".

As many pocket watch collectors know, the caliber numbering was initially Lep.
c.55 and Sav. c.58 for the Caliber called "Schaffhausen" and Lep. c.57 and
Sav. c.56 for the Movement with the divided Plate (Escape Wheel,Seconds Wheel,
Intermediat Wheel under one part, minutes wheel and Barrel under the other
    part)

Later, when the c.55/58 Caliber was not more produced, the pair c.57/c.56
became the numbering c.57/c.58 (the lowernumber for the Lepine/Open Face and
1 higher for the Savonette /Hunter

Here 2 pictures of the "Kalaschnikoff"

    Happy New Year and

    regards
