I just bought this IWC, this is my first luxury watch and what better brand that IWC. It would be a lot of help if you guys could tell me:

1)Is it real or fake? anything especial about it? aproximated value?
2)If is it real, how can i get a copy from the archives?
3)How can i adjust the time (i read somewhere that you need to do it right so the mechanism doesnt get damaged)
4)how often does it need the service?

Some of the parts are IWC (probably the movement, the dial. But it's not a watch produced by IWC. It's a "marriage" to say it kindly. Some would call it fake as well.
Concerning the value: I hope you didn't pay much for it.

The answer to your 4 questions are :
    1. It is not real and not fake( at least not completely). The movement is from an IWC pocket watch, cal. 52 . The case and probably the dial are aftermade but not by IWC. As TILO points out ;: a typical marriage.
    2. IWC only issues extracts from the archives for complete original IWC watches.
    3. Time can be set by pushing the pin at 4 o'clock and at the same time turning the crown. The time setting mechanism can not damage the movement whenever time is set nor by turning the crown clockwise or anti clockwise because no date complication is present here.
    4. It is adviced to service a mechanical watch about every 5 years. However,IWC pocket watch movements are so sturdy that many owners never service such watch until it stops ticking.
