A new watch is coming and I got some pictures to tease you guys.

But I am certain, with these clues, it will be a peice of cake here to find
out what will be revealed end of this month.

I believe something that will honor a previous model...

    Any guesses here ?

Looks like a Fliegerchronograph (3741 or 3706)...as we can see neither the
position of the subdials nor of the date-window, it could be either, I guess?

    Lots of clues there.

Will it be a limited edition Tonny?

It clearly is a chrono and clearly a pilot-style watch. Not a doppel. I'll
guess a 3706 variant with an exotic case material, possibly Ceratanium.

Guessing by the picture and the caption, this could be a modern interpretation
of the Ceramic Fliegerchronograph Ref. 3705 from the '90s.

    Which would be pretty cool.

A good guess, makes sense to me. In the 90s the exotic material was ceramic...

I'll go with the 3705 in ceratanium or gray ceramic. Maybe in a 41 mm and with
    a new caliber.

I'm looking forward to the watch. There's a premium above the "regular" 3879,
but I'm pretty sure this LE will sell out quickly.

Me too! I've heard too many horror stories about customers paying for
domestic expedited delivery and not getting their watch for 7-14 days. I'm
pretty sure Hodinkee uses a third party for deliveries and it sounds like the
    systems are not integrated.

Indeed, it is the Tribute to the 3705

**Powered by the in-house 69380 calibre and fitted on a black calfskin
strap, this special edition is limited to 1000 watches and sold exclusively on
    [IWC.com.](www.iwc.com/gb/en/specials/ecom-exclusive-tribute-

    to-3705.html)**

The newly released Pilot 's Watch Chronograph Edition "Tribute to 3705"
    (Ref. 387905)
pays homage to this exceptional timepiece and is limited to
1000 pieces. The dial is a replica of the original from the 1990s. Two
totalizers at 9 and 12 o'clock display stop times of up to 12 hours, the small
second is located at 6 o'clock. Another feature is the day and date display at
3 o'clock. The ref. 3705 was pioneering in the use of black ceramic, and the
tribute edition likewise features a recent innovation from IWC's material
scientists: the case, chronograph pushers and pin buckle are made of
Ceratanium®, an IWC-developed material that is light and robust like titanium,
but also similarly hard and scratch-resistant like ceramic. In the first step,
the case components are machined from a special titanium alloy. Afterwards,
the parts are treated in a furnace firing process, during which a phase
transformation takes place, and the surface of the material assumes properties
    similar to ceramic.

While the original ref. 3705 was powered by the Valjoux calibre 7750, the new
Pilot's Watch Chronograph Edition "Tribute to 3705" boasts sophisticated
movement technology from Schaffhausen. Inside the 41-millimetre case, the in-
house 69380 calibre is at work. This robust and precise chronograph movement
in classic column wheel design is one of the latest developments from IWC's
engineers. A bi-directional pawl winding system reliably builds up a power
    reserve of 46 hours.

I like the way IWC is handling the distribution. Instead of a mad rush and
all pieces being sold out in 5 minutes, I understand they are releasing them
in batches. More opportunity for "real collectors" to get them instead of
    flippers. Thank you IWC!

This watch has special memories for me as I used to own the Ceramic doppel
chrono, no longer in my collection. I have always missed it!

One lovely memory is with Herr Klaus and the collectors at SIHH, so long ago
already, when we were all so young ;-)

So when I was contacted about this tribute to IW3705 last year, I knew it was
a must have, not even having seen it. It reminds me so much of the old white
spartan IWC catalogues in the nineties when I first encountered IWC and
    marvelled at those instrumental watches.

And it carries my birthyear number.

So this is today, a little older and hopfully wiser, back to the future. I
    really like this watch!

Gorgeous watch. I think Id prefer something a little larger though. I saw an
interview yesterday with Christoph Grainger and Watches of Switzerland on
their instagram channel; it looks like there are a few new pilot watches on
    the way (starting april).

I tried to post the Insta link to the interview but I got an error :(
