I was lucky enough to be able to meet up with a couple of IWC fans yesterday and spend a little time studying Portuguese at the IWC Boutique here in Zuerich.......

Oh, you shouldn't do this! I'm falling in love...

This year of the Portuguese is really fantastic, and I forgive you that stranger :-)

That new Perpetual Calendar is heaven on earth. That line-up of five is really great: the left one is mine already, its neighbour looks very nice too, but the second one from the right is not only appealing immensely to me, it also kind of fills up a gap in my collection, being both a bit sporty and very classy, chique at the same time: classic with the steel case and golden numbers and hands, modern with the grey subdial and the very small red accent. What should I say: a modern classic?

    Kind regards,
Paul, wearing steel VC Pilot's watch

The "older and the new" - re your 1st picture ...

The one makes me to have shiverings... the other ... still a little bit.

But would you not prefer the seconds sub-dial and the beautiful multi-bridge 98-x movement above the (very superb, however paler, and 3/4 bridge) manually wound Port. with the Jones movement... ?

Just my Q? not my Answer, just an open question and would like to read other opinions...

    Ciao, Rob.

    Regarding the first picture

The watch to the right does not have a Jones movement, but a flat Piaget movement. This watch has a height of 8 mm and a solid back. I rather go for the watch to the left, but even more for the new white dialed 44 mm hand-wound with the grey subdial. The Jones movement is pretty enough for me, and I want my watch to be new, so I am damned, I will never own a Jubilee, alas.

    Kind regards,
Paul, wearing yellow gold Portuguese Perpetual Calendar
