Just got one today from IWC Btq in Rome. That’s made it an expensive vocation but wow is it gorgeous! 3 IWCs in now (others are an 8 day Hnd wnd Portofino, and an ASE Double Chronograph). Think I m hooked now./site_media/ckeditor_images/f3157b680ba328d8346e44dbb7ae3684.jpeg

    Hi all,

I was in an IWC boutique this evening and the salesman was admiring my CF4. As
he was handing it back he said ohh your bezel is stuck followed by You must
turn it regularly..which of course I never had done. Any tips on getting the
bezel back turning the salesman wasn't very forthcoming .. In fairness someone
else was looking to try on a Portugieser Tourbillon.

It's something I never noticed but now I know it's annoying.

    Thanks

    Mark

Try turning the bezel back and forth in small increments until it loosens. I
had the same issue on my Aquatimer Charles Darwin.

If there's a lot of patina/oxidization/"bronze disease" you can google
"cleaning bronze watch" with various options to clean/remove it in the search
    results.

Thanks .. I tried leaving it in warm water then moving it back and forward.
The bezel is well and truly stuck. I did indeed Google how to clean a Bronze
watch but I wasn't sure if those methods would be much help to the bezel. I'll
try and see how I get on

The tolerances between the bezel and the case are quite tight. It's likely
that there's oxidation jamming it up or even fuzing them together.

So I eventually got my droped CF4 back to a local AD to send it back for some
TLC to sort the bezel out. So firstly they told my wife who dropped it in for
me "sorry your warrenty is out of date" and she would have to pay etc( I
bought the watch new in June 2018). A phone call later I asked my wife to go
    back
with it and insist they check out the warrenty. So having checked yes my watch
warrenty was OK but the warrenty does not cover the bezel of the watch. The
watch of course needs to be fixed so I asked for it to be sent back either way
but would this be the case (no pun intended) that the initial IWC warrenty
wouldnt cover this or did the AD simply not want the hasstle of sending it
    back??

    Thanks, mark

    Hello Mark

I would agree that this is not a warranty issue as this is simply "the nature
of the beast." It would have been nice to have been warned of the effects of
the oxidation of the bronze material but this oxidation and the resulting
patina is actually intended and deliberate and not a defect of material or
    workmanship.

    Hi Ben,

Thanks for the reply. I actually brought the watch into an AD whilst I was
away and they mentioned (because of the age of the watch.. With little patina
etc) the issue might be the teeth of the bezel. Anyway I'll wait for the
    report from IWC.

    Hi all,

I'm sure I've probably missed the conversation but any thoughts /news on a
potential successor to the CF4. It would be great to add a younger cousin to
    my collection

    Thanks,

    Mark

Hi Mark, it is in the making. Can't tell much, but the model begins with a P.

    Hi Tonny,

Fantastic . Perhaps another P to add to my small collection. It would be
amazing to hear more when you can share.

    Thanks again

    Hi Tonny,

Just taking my CF4 for a Sunday stroll.. Was wondering if there was an update/news on a CF5 by any chance?

    Thanks

Work in progress, the idea for the CF5 is there, no working and lobbying to make it happen. Takes some time because it will be very special.
