Four very different movements found in Portuguese watches. I love them all. I need the 8 day movement for my little collection.

Nice! About the 8 days handwound, ref, 5102: the front side doesn't look badly either. By the way, when looking up the reference number at this site catalogue, I noticed the Portuguese Handwound, ref. 5454, is gone! Didn't read that before here.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

The 5454 should be eternal, the F.A. Jones movement!

    Ralph,

This is a beautiful collection of fine movements. My compliments.

One thing I never noticed previously: the regulator on the minute repeater is a very basic, traditional one without any counter-springs or side screws. Compare it to the Jubilee with its swan's neck regulator and it's almost primitive! But, still, it is so sophisticated and so beautiful a movement --lucky you.

Please help me out here Rave, is the movement in the 2nd picture from a ref 5454 ? From the decoration it looks like a ref 5442 fa jones ? But the crown does not look onion shaped so i am confused.

Wow Ralph, that is quite something! Superb "little" collection and terrific images of those beautiful movements! I also was struck by the different regulators, initially by the regulateur and the repeater.

The watch is a 2005 limited edition Regulator, Cal 98240, hence the lack of an onion crown.

Here's another. The VC Portofino, which I sold because of the crown. A beautiful watch in every respect.

Great serie of movements. Never knew that the finishing of the Wempe regulateur was different from the non limited edition.

Excellent...demonstrates again that Portuguese watches are IWC at its best...
Also shows why it's such a great thing to have the movement visible...something that I personally almost cannot give up on when I get a new watch.
Congratulations Ralph..the MR is really outstanding!
