Finally everything was completed and I can do my reveal which I already announced in my SIHH post.

On January 20th at about 6a.m. in the morning (Mark and I were meeting to fly out to CH for SIHH) I got delivered by Buddy Mark a packet which contained a nice wooden box:
    i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z376/giova26/5D8D670B-3533-4767-8FA4-10401472E295_zpsqoehj6tz.jpg

The wooden box contained a very nice 3711, which I had purchased from a dutch seller and Mark was so kind to pick it up for me:
    i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z376/giova26/SIHH%202014/912DB51E-1750-48E8-BFDF-223D50106232_zpsfch8r9uk.jpg

I was so proud to own my first Double Chrono IWC
    i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z376/giova26/SIHH%202014/90220967-BC98-4FD1-B760-2331C5E481CD_zpss748wtid.jpg,

and the doomed glass looks fantastic
    i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z376/giova26/SIHH%202014/2EDB292C-99B6-44F4-8E50-96EAE4DA0742_zpsf5qgedkl.jpg

The watch is in perfect conditions, however, already on the flight, just after a few hours of wearing it, I did not feel comfortable that the watch did not have anymore the "original" fish crown and the "original" tritium dial.
Fortunately enough, on our way to Geneva, we had planned a stop-over in Schaffhausen to meet Nelson and Terry.

Where else would you have the chance of finding a T-dial and fish-crown for a 3711 other than in Schaffhausen? And who else should embark with you on such a search other than some forum friends here?
So off we went, after a refreshment to find those two things in Schaffhausen.i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z376/giova26/SIHH%202014/D0D3241F-6856-444B-B21D-FC9903557373_zpshayb0wtp.jpg

I did not took too long, and a seller had a fish-crown for that piece.
    i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z376/giova26/SIHH%202014/E7AB552C-6D6F-4DEE-A0EF-A96AEDAAA070_zpsp2zmxklz.jpg
Seeing the crown, I immediately asked the Million-$ question: "Do you have a tritium dial for it as well?".
The seller left us for a second and came back with potentially the last 3711 T-dial in the world.
    i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z376/giova26/SIHH%202014/C842E057-9FB1-4734-970A-09CC30F6A0E4_zpsyusya3y3.jpg
    i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z376/giova26/SIHH%202014/C0B29DC1-5A1A-4AA7-A5F9-37347A58DD31_zpsyayhwcdw.jpg

I felt like being in the lap of luxury. But then ... the disillusion.
To replace the crown and the dial and to service the watch I needed to leave the watch there, for about three weeks. Oh no!! I just had the watch on my wrist for about 9 hours! And then, I can't go to SIHH without a new timepiece. I was so happy to present this new timepiece, which I just had got the same day to my Forum Friends. What to do?

Well, the seller, being a smart guy had a solution for my problem. As if he was able to read my mind ... see my disillusion ... know my taste ... know what I am missing in my collection and what I am after ... he disappeared for a second and came back with this beauty:
    i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z376/giova26/SIHH%202014/C1E8A2DE-D74C-4DA7-B4B8-FDF8E6F6D2C6_zpsgck3to7k.jpg

"You can leave your 3711 here for service, and buy this nice 3536 to take to SIHH. Anyway, it fits better this year's SIHH theme", the seller said.
I just had bought in the morning an IWC. A few hours later I am again tempted to buy another one?! Well, guess what that bunch of enablers who were with me were saying? They were shouting "Great solution! Go for it Giovanni".
Well I could not resist, so I went for it. Proud owner of my first AT 2000, and sad of leaving the 3711 behind just after about 9 hours.
    i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z376/giova26/AF31A21F-7268-46F7-AAA1-3EB6F71F5B60_zps4nohiuhc.jpg

Yesterday, finally the 3711 arrived, with fish-crown and T-dial. And it looks great. It was worth waiting for it. The patina on the dial gives it a much more mature look.

The patina matches the color of a good espresso cream

Thanks for reading, and thanks to Mark, Terry and Nelson for sharing that great experience with me.

Very cool. Nice story. And I love both of those, especially the AT. The 3711 looks MINT now. (and I love the Porsche shots!) Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

    Giovanni,

Excellent addition with the 3711. Are the hands also Tritium?

My 3711 says welcome to yours…

This was a great watch day amongst friends and with lots of enabling going on...

I do believe Giovanni has overseen one little thing though...

Not only did he pickup that new AT .. He also secured a unique Velcro strap for that watch... NOS!!!!

Terrific! Congratulations on the addition of these two amazing watches!
    What a nice story, too.

In my opinion these are two of the best watches IWC has ever produced.
I might be a little biased though, as you can see in this photo:

    up.picr.de/17603761do.jpg

3536 ti and 3711 are the two watches I wear most.
Very special and rarely seen, yet perfectly useable and so comfortable to wear.

Can you please tell me the name of the dealer in Schaffhausen where you found the dial and the crown? Maybe he also has a part I am looking for.

Thanks and enjoy these two beauties

    Giovanni -

Your post gave me chills. Congratulations. The 3711 is very nice. I like the dial and the domed crystal. Sadly, it makes me regret a bad mistake I made about 7 years ago. I sold my 3713 Doppelchrono on bracelet, the very first IWC I acquired. I supposed I will need to replace it this year....I miss how amazing that watch feels on the bracelet.

What a great day it was, indeed Giovanni! It is always a pleasure to visit that seller and it was made all the more special with all of us there together. The Flieger turned out beautifully and the 3536 is exceptional as well.

But please don't forget, you weren't the only one enabled that day as I was finally successful in acquiring a watch I had first seen in 2007, again in 2009, and which on both occasions was not for sale. I attribute the frenzy you created with opening up a weak moment that allowed me to finally buy that vintage piece I had lusted after for 7-years. On the other hand, crying might have actually helped, as well as Mark's subtle skills of subliminal persuasion :-) Nelson's peanut butter didn't hurt either.

Enjoy your "new" watches and thanks for a great story recounting a great day!

Wow, big congrats Giovanni! Who doesn't love a big double reveal - LoL ;-)

I fully agree with your decision to "return" the chrono back to its original state, it looks a lot better.

That must have been a great day for you - and well deserved my friend!

Oh yes. Another great watch story. You ended up with two great timepieces. Later that week I got to visit your seller. I think he got to satisfy Rave as well. Enjoy your new additions.

    Giovanni,
big congratulations on that Double Chrono.
One of the best and most beautiful tool watches ever made by IWC.
A classic with a great complication.
