Last Thursday, six of us were planning to get together in Hong Kong, only to have a cyclone interfere. Actually, it was all bark and no bite, and mostly missed Hong Kong. But we rescheduled for Friday evening --most but not all could make it, but still we had a special celebration in mind. It would be the first get-together of CF3 numbered 1, 2 and 3.
First, the well-known collector SC Fong showed up. Here's a quick photo of him and me, enjoying beers:
Soon it became four guys, since we were joined by Erwin Chu and also (at left) Alec Yin:
Alec isn't as well-known on this forum, but he's a very prominent collector and has been a good friend for years. A real expert, he's looking for an elusive white-metal ref. 5251 (and he claims it exists).
But we especially got together to join three special CF3's:
We only had iPhone cameras and horrible lighting, but perhaps you can see the numbers 01/250, 02/250 and 03/250 here:
I really hope we'll all get together in the future, but you might never see these three in the same place again.
But more than the watches, we got together for a wonderful dinner:
In addition to the guys, we were joined by my wife Kay and also Ronie So, a friend and special lady who until recently worked for IWC (and she's close-by with another Richemont brand).
The speciality of the restaurant is Peking Duck:
Here's our waitress serving one of the many other dishes we had:
I think Erwin thought the Peking Duck was so good that he was tempted to roll up his watch in the pancake:
Personally, I think the CF3 is a great watch, but too tough for this meal ;)
There are many long-standing and knowledgible Hong Kong collectors, and I'm proud to consider them as friends.
Thanks guys! What a night!
