Cinq's St. Ex post today got me thinking. It was A.St.Ex who said (translated from the French), "A design is perfect not when there is nothing more to add but when there is nothing more to take away.". In light of this, I think it is very appropriate that IWC have editions dedicated to him. To my mind, IWC designers typically show great restraint. The watches are clean and classic where some brands tend toward overwrought and busy. I know that IWC has St. Ex editions because of his aviation exploits but I like that his design philosophy is a nice fit as well.

    Hello David,

I completely agree with you. A good example of this can be found in the Pilot's line. The lume on the regular BP for example shows just enough information to tell the time at night. The St Ex models are a bit more exciting, the blue lume is simply spectacular! So in this case, I am glad with that tad more information than strictly necessary.

    Kind regards,

    Clemens
