Before reading further my post, I recommend to read this post by Mark on his
    very special find

    You can read it [here](/t/when-something-is-not-what-it-

    seemsbut-a-whole-lot-more/4046/#post-266789)

So Mark found out with the help of David Seyffer, curator of the IWC museum,
that this was a genuine IWC made on special order for Gubelin.

There was a special order of two tonneau shaped pocketwatches with a stand.
One in mixed gold, yellow gold and white gold and one in white gold.

These were delivered in August 1928.

So how big are the odds to find the second one ?

So to my big surprise, the second one came to surface for auction.

I put in the opening bid and contacted Mark. He confirmed that it was the
second one from the order to Gubelin.

I immediately wanted that watch in my collection, but we both were afraid this
one could be not a cheap one.

I told Mark my limit, but to be sure that this piece was not lost, we agreed
to buy it together if my limit was reached.

I was happy to see the hammer fall under my limit and was happy to see it
    arrive here in Belgium.

Mark and myself must find some time to bring these two together after +80
    years.

    Here are some pictures.

    to compare
    with another tonneau IWC.

Beyond belief!!! An absolute treasure for sure. And, indeed, what are the
chances that you would discover the second chapter of this incredible story.
    Well
    done Tonny, huge congrtaulations!!!

Now that's certainly a very interesting story! And it seems like I have missed
    the first post of Mark...

I personally know of a third one of these watches. It is also a mixed gold
version, see attached images. So the findings of David Seyffer seem to be
questionable and it might make sense to discuss this topic with him directly.

Thank you for showing, I know that finding these in the books requires the
case and cal numbers, so we discovered the order of two, and it is indeed
possible that there was another other later, or earlier. We can not search the
    books with the name Gubelin.

Interesting to know, maybe you can communicate me the serial numbers. (you can
do it on email if you like)

Congratulations, Tonny! It's really impressive that Mark and you combined
your efforts to acquire this speciial piece of IWC history. It is only
fitting that two of our most ardent pocket watch collectors have these watches
    in their collection!

Amazing find Tonny and I really like it how you and Mark tried to secure it!
Mark showed his watch before and that blew me away already, but two ;-)

    Congrats!
