    Hi.
SO, I got this watch for a two to three month.
So far, I have never opened. I bought this watch from a famous collection shop.
Since they told me "this watch is never worn by ANYONE. PERFECTLY NEW", I decided to believe what they are saying.
However my concern is, this IWC 5001 has many minor scratches on its dial.
On its white dial pad, there are more than twenty minor scratch which is visible in certain angle of certain light. (NOT VISIBLE UNDER STRONG LIGHT SUCH AS SUNLIGHT). It is very minor, but as every scratch does, you always see it if you once see it.
I do have the warranty card that is fully written and completed. Since this is under warranty period, the email from concierge informed it will be free to replace the dial pad if they once got it, and confirmed the scratch.

However, since I am such an impatience being, I worry the "six to eight weeks of repair" will be too long and boring for me. Also I am not 100% sure that they will ACTUALLY try to find scratches, and they will confirm it as their manufactural defect. Also for me, I think every dial has this amount of scratches, since they are actually hand-made objects. However it bothers me times to times.
If you have this watch, will you send this for repair?

Definitely get it fixed! This is not OK. The dial must not have one visible scratch under any light conditions. And normaly hasn't got.
I'd ask the shop that sold it to you too what they think of this. This seems to be very strange and NOT OK. If you've got a valid guarantee I'd let IWC fix it. Even if you have to wait for several weeks. I'd not be surprised if they find more strange things inside the watch. If you get a list from IWC what they've done on it, you could confront the seller with it. That might be quite interesting.

Thanks for your reply. I didn't actually know that the dials shouldn't have any visible scratch under any condition, since my Portuguese 3714 had very little scratch also (however much visible then my current one.)
The shop that sold this watch to me said "I am too picky", and act like it is not visible to them.
I do understand it is very very light scratch, also i do have very extreme OCD,
I will post both of the scratch photo. however the dial of 5001 has definitely more scratches than that.
Also since 5001 has see through back, i can look inside, but it has nothing weird to notice.. I began to slightly afraid..

Wow.. That dial should have ZERO scratches... Too picky!? You have the right to be picky when you spend this much on a watch.. There is no way that dial left IWC like that...

I agree with said above. The dial has to be without visible scratches. Definitely get it fixed.
Did you buy the watch over the net or picked from the shop yourself? I would never buy the watch without seeing and handling it first in person exactly for these reasons.

Good luck and keep us updated

Really..? That selling shop was pretty big and has a nice history within. So I thought they are trustworthy.
If it was a black dial, I wouldn't care that much, because light scratch on black dial are used to not reveal that much.
But on white dial is a bit annoying..

I actually bought from actual store. However i didn't expect to be scratched surface, also the store's light system actually hides the scratches.
Also since the store has a nice fame, I thought they won't sell any defect item. However when I actually found it, my family was so upset that I am nit-picking again. Also being honest, even I hardly notice the scratch in certain lights.
I am thinking about take this to the boston Shreve and Crump to ask for their advice how to deal with this scratch, and will decide.

By the way, do you recommend me to send it to actual IWC repair store in Texas, or just bring it to the local private watch repair centers, which will repair it much faster?

I would take it to the store you bought it from and they should send the watch to IWC. Independent repair centres will not be able to source a replacement dial and may make the existing scratches worse. Of course, when you purchase a previously owned watch you buy "as seen". For the sake of good will, the store may send the watch to IWC.

I agree. I would also take the watch to the store and let them sort it out.

Thanks very much for your help.
I just put it in to the shop, and they will send it to the repair center and will tell me whats going on, and how long will it about to take, and how much will it take in a week.
Hopefully the store I bought it is actually honest enough, so that it is a problem of iwc production line
