Ever since I was lucky enough to get my very first Big Pilot 5004 which is kind of rare in 99% brand new condition, I started to look for the discontinue timepiece which is the 5002.

I read a few articles discussing the 1st gen of 5002 where the fish crown is suffering from the water resistance and Probus BP crown was replaced. I was one of those that's really like about the Orignal combination between the 5002 + Fish Crown.

One day I spotted the 5002 + Fish Crown in an immaculate condition (95% new) which I can't resist to grab it right away. I started to initiate a conversation with the owner which he explained that the timepiece has a very little wrist time due to he is more into Rolex than IWC and the 5002 was being stored in the safe for most of the time.

However, the timepiece was sent for complete service in May 2015 and I'm curious why they didn't replace the Fist Crown for the Probus crown, any IDEA? Do you think I should send the watch for servicing it again once I receive it?

I could only imagine that they tested the water resistance and the result was ok! Otherwise the fish would have been gone for the probus scarfusia. My 5002 btw has also still the original fish crown! In an answer from Chris, they are currently in the industrialization process for a new/old fish crown.

Oh meaning your one is okay with the water resistance too? How do we get notified when the new fish crown is ready?

I only know that the 5002 has problems with the spring that was to hard and kept pressure on the crowns thread which caused a problem with the water resistance. In most cases the crown was damaged and IWC changed them with a probus scarfusia.
