Hi friends, I bought an IWC automatic 7 day reserve quite recently. I noticed that I had been adjusting the time of the watch in a counter clockwise manner (meaning moving the hand backwards). Will this do any damage to the clockwork mechanism in the watch, when it is turned in the wrong direction?

    Hi Eugenelee,
this should not be a problem with modern watches. I would be hesitating to move the hands backwards during 0:00 when the date setting mechanism is in engagement.

    Hi Cromagnonman,
Thanks. You mean when the watch strikes precisely at 12am? What about the date setting mechanism that falls between 8pm and 2am. I believe I might have adjusted the time backwards during this period when the date setting is engaged.

    Hi,

will adjusting the watch backward change the movement from PM to AM?
