I bought this watch for my husband as a birthday gift. I’m just learning and discovering new things about these watches. I was looking for a beautiful vintage timepiece and came across this. I guess my question is, was this worth my money and is there any authenticity to this piece. I had got from a reputable place. But would like a second opinion and some input please.

Hello and welcome to the forum. What is meant by "marriage" is that this watch was born as a pocket watch. The movement was removed from the case (possibly so the case could be melted down for gold content) and later re-cased in a non-IWC wristwatch case. It really does not have much value to a collector.

I had no idea. I wish I had known sooner to talk to more knowledgeable people. On the other hand, does this devalue my purchase in anyway? And aside from the casing, is at least the dial and the mechanics of the watch IWC??

The dial and movement looks like real IWC but it's not a complete watch done by IWC. If you bought it from a reputable source, you should try to get back to them and ask why they didn't tell you about it. Maybe they will refund the deal. Otherwise I'd say they're not that reputable.
