    Hi all,

I recently came across an attractive looking watch on an online marketplace, however I am new to vintage IWCs so I was hoping to get a second opinion.

It is purported to be a 1921 Cal 74 marriage with a mother of pearl dial. While I know it will not have the same value as a real IWC wristwatch, I was wondering what you think of this particular recased model as I find the unique dial truly quite intriguing.

It is being listed for EUR2,700. The listing description:

    What do you think?

What do I think? Well, somebody destroyed a beautiful and probably rare IWC pocket watch to make a worthless wrist watch.
Had the gold pocket watch case been spared and the wrist watch case built so the movement could be used on both, it would have been a good idea, as it would allow the watch to be used more frequently.
Selling the art-deco case for its gold content is an horological felony.

If you are willing to spend that sum of money, I would suggest you to search in an auction for a genuine IWC pocket watch. For this price, you could get really a nice and original piece.
This mariage watch you are showing is probably is of some Chinese reproduction and has no value.

    happy new year.

A crime indeed! That movement looks to be in fantastic condition, I'l bet the original case was quite nice as well. A real shame.

A completely molested watch with a horrible fake mother-of-pearl dial for an unbelievable insulting outrageous price.
    Brrrrrr!

I think I have seen the watch from a German seller! Just sad and total worthless, and he is asking for quite some money.

    It's already said here:

[li]Nothing on this watch is worth that amount of money.[/li]
[li]Go for a real one which you can get for the same price if you're looking carefully.[/li]

What a piece of junk that marriage watch is. Worthless. A shame that a wonderful mmovement has been abused for that purpose.
