I have an IWC Ingenieur chronometer watch, Movement Nº 2591116, steel case Nº 2552993, that I bought brand new in my city, Buenos Aires, years ago (about 1999). As I can´t find it in the IWC Movements list, I will like to know more details about it as its caliber, the movement features, and the advised direction and number of turns in the watchwinder. I like it very much because it is a very elegant watch and suitable for everyday use too.
Other IWC watch I have is a hand wound steel case with steel bracelet I inherited from my father. He bought it in the 50´s and this was the first time I saw the IWC collection, something that makes me a great impression. The watch number according the instructions is 1.626.437 with no more indications about if it belong to the model, the movement or to the case.
Many thanks in advance to whom can help me.
    Hector.

For your Ingenieur, I take it that you do not know the reference / edition / series number/name ? If so, can u identify it from this very useful website by the pictures?

Your inherited watch presumably Case number 1,626,437 would make it: "The case was most probably produced around 1963 and delivered up to 1964."

Closeup pics of the dial, casing, movement would help, if u could share them here on this forum.

The case number and movement number will also assist greatly. For pocket watches, to see the movement number you would need to open up the back of the pocket watch, which a good watchmaker can do for you without harming the timepiece.

Erstwhile, these below can assist for vintage / older watches:
DateYourIWC by case and movement number (I prefer the applet version at the bottom), created by Marco Schönenberger
    Vintage Catalogs
Instructions found here on how you can also order an extract from IWC archives to verify authenticity.
Visit our moderator Michael Friedberg's excellent website on pocket watches, and compare both the dial and the movement designs. Many pocket watches have similar dials, so you may wish to look more for similarities in movement design.

For active collections & editions you can also consult the IWC Workbook Search, an application created by Stefan Weeber. Please read its very useful Help page too.
If you know the IWC watch reference but would like to “date” it, i.e. find out when/which year it was placed in an IWC Catalogue, please consult Greg Steer's fantastic catalogue found here.

Many thanks Shing for your help. Really you have a lot of information about IWC watches. I will search the links you suggested me, to find the information I´m looking for. Unfortunately I can´t upload here the pictures of the two watches because both are in a safety case not at my home. Again many thanks for your help.

    Kindest regards,
    Hector.

Finally, I found my Inge. It is the Nª 3522, and seems to have a good movement JLC based. Any comments about it?

Hi Arqui, there is a fair bit of information on the (a) internet (b) on this website especially forum archives (c) using the IWC Workbook Search. I would recommend you search for "calibre 887" and "ingenieur 3522" for (a) and (b). for (c) you can get the workbooks by keying in "3522". I will leave others to comment on the watch and movement (and they already have in the past in the archived discussions) as I am not familiar with this movement and watch.
