Well, the IWC Top Gun Flight Simulator has made its way to Dubai Mall. Tomorrow, 18th of November, the simulator will become active. I'm certainly ready with my ticket!

The simulator is taking up a massive space at one of the large entrances:

Vincent - are you ready to fly?
Next stop will be Abu Dhabi, but somehow I think I might fly in both terminals:-)

Have a safe flight - LoL

BTW: it's more difficult to land that plane back on the deck, than you think!

Agree w Mark, taking off was easy compared to landing on the deck. Good Luck!

Oliver, I was just there yesterday evening after a movie. I was tempted to jump into that cockpit like a fool, just to get a feel, even though it was not ready yet.

Most likely I'll just do it when it comes to Abu Dhabi the following week, but I might just swing by Dubai if we can find the time this week.

... hmmm, maybe I do need a pilot watch before I get on that cockpit...

nice - hope they bring it to Hong Kong for me to have a second go. the flight control is amazingly sensitive - those jet fighter pilots have a tough job :)

    thanks for sharing.

    Can't wait to feel it...
Vincent, I will go to Dubai on Tuesday and then try and do another visit once the simulator gets to Abu Dhabi! Maybe I will have some practice by that time:-)

The flight simulator is really sensitive. Now imagine doing it with all the g forces affecting your arm.

OOOOOH YES, EXTREMELY sensitive. Although I guess it is also good that the control "rod" is rather stationary, otherwise it would be flapping around under the g-forces.

So, I had a few tries today:
Check-in was easy and quick, very friendly ladies are there to assist. I was a very happy camper once sitting in that seat:

Situating myself nicely to get ready for my flight briefing:

During the flight... highest level of concentration. Yes, the simulator is very, very sensitive. I was informed by the flight instructor that the latest Airbus is as sensitive as this controller.

    www.abload.de/img/img_235294unt.jpg

    Facing some turbulence :-)

Vincent, the biggest hint in all of this is: be REALLY soft on the control gear, it is soooo sensitive and therefore very challenging to control. The plane reacts to every little interaction with the controls - quite amazing really.

I will definitely do a few more flights when the simulator arrives here in Abu Dhabi! Until then, have a safe flight everyone with your pilots.

    Oliver

That looks brilliant, Oliver. Thanks for the report!

Imagine in real life situation when you have to deal with all the elements in flight with such sensitive control.

I'll try to remember not to sneeze. Can't wait!

    Cheers,
