Zenith has had since 1969 watches with the "GG design" in production.
IWC launched GG-Design watches from mid-1970s. Those cases have similar "GG
designs".
The shape of those Zenith cases are indeed very similar. Possibly those Zenith
design has been the model for the IWC GG-Design ?!
For the 40th anniversary of El Primero, Zenith launched this 40mm version in
"GG Design".

To be sure, interpreting the hint in the right way, it would be interesting to
get some more details.
As stated, there is about an decade between the ZENITH ref. 385 and the IWC
ref. 1833.

The 9216 YC was just about 22**....was a busy time for new lines of design
down schaffhausen way.
Late 21** and the 1875 arrived...i bet gerald was tickled with this model, he
was fond of a bit of bezel shenanigans (whether inner or outer)
