Enjoyed that, Michael. And what beautiful photos. Product photography is a tricky business and IWC did a great job with those.
Best regards,
David
Nice to see the background and passion of these master craftsmen.
Great read MF - thanks I enjoyed that.
Interesting to see and hear about the background of these young men (and I know there are a fair amount of woman too) in Schaffhausen - who produce the masterpieces we so revere!
Thanks.
Best regards
Mark
Another great article Michael, and those pictures are stunning (especially that last one :-))
Herr Kittlas is now one of my heroes - but he sure isn't wearing "a simple IWC Porsche Design model from the 1980s" in that picture - more like something that makes Alan rather blue with envy - LoLs!

Unaffected... charming and forthright..... "there's no need for champagne for breakfast"....
A perfect fit with the traditional values that I think represent part of the appeal of IWC.
Great read, Michael. It all sounds so...... right!

Very interesting. I wonder, why does the first assembly take three weeks, and the second assembly one day?
Kind regards,
Paul
What you do may not be so important, but it is very important that you do it well. (my variation of a saying by Gandhi)
good question Paul. I guess that on the first assembly all the parts get adjusted so everything works as it is supposed to do. Probably tiny changes of less than a tenth of a mm but much needed for a smoot operating assembly.
Kind regards,
Clemens
New signature!
Michael,
Excellent read, thank you. Hope to someday meet Herr Kittlas.

Kevin
Very interesting! Thank you Michael!

Michael,
Enjoyed this article very much.
Only thing better than being young again like Herr Kittlas, is being young with a Minute Repeater on your wrist and having the skill to service it!
Talk about a warranty ...
Thanks again Michael,
Andy
thanks Michael - good to read about the people behind these great IWC pieces
Very nice and interesting article Michael. Thanks.
This article is a tribute to the people behind the creation of these masterpieces. Very informative and interesting. Thanks Michael !
