Shing, Great photos as always. I love the Ingenieur Chronograph with the solid black dial. Is the case the similar enough between the split second chrono and the regular chrono that the rubber strap would fit the regular chrono? Keep those photos coming (for those of us who live a thousand miles from a flagship store!! Jeff
Hi Jeff, I have no specifications to back me up, but I suspect the answer is No - because the rubber strap on the Double CHrono Titanium is wider than the regular Chrono (even though diameter wise the regular chrono is bigger). I will check again.
I also asked if the deployment clasp of the regular Chrono Ingenieurs could be used for the Double Chrono Titanium Ingenieur, and the answer was no they would not fit, and as of last week, there no plans to manufacture one. But this could change of course.
To me there is no contest. The steel chrono is my choice. Unless you are smitten by the titanium? I like the feel of a heavy watch on my wrist and the steel chrono is substantial. Have you tried it with a bracelet? I think the steel bracelet would further offset the black dial and really look great.
I almost agree with Alan, but I would like to see a now not existing watch, a kind of marriage of the watches shown: the solid black dial Ingenieur Chrono on a bracelet, but then in titanium. With the new 89361 movement it would probably be irresistible to me. Although I would wait to see what 2012 brings.
Shing, that titanium Inge is a real sporty looker, and would feel right at home in your collection (especially since you have a new yacht club but no Aquatimer as yet). But I read here, and see others say go for the steel.
So I will chip in, and not one to rock the boat and go against the stream I say "Go on man...and pull the trigger on that steel one!"
But then, that Titanium is a really nice watch too...
Unfortunately, the straps aren't interchangeable between the two Ingenieurs because they use different attachment systems (if you see on Shing's photo, the rubber strap uses the same system as the older Aquatimers; you push on the button in the middle of the lug, then slide out a metal bar. The other Ingenieur uses spring bars.
Good morning on a nice and cool Friday ! Am pleased the weather is starting to get cooler in HK.
Thanks for all your comments. bracelets don't sit well with me unfortunately - never have before in the past with other brands, and now with IWC I'm still warming up to them. I prefer the contrasting material with the casing when I look / glance at the six 0 clock region of the watch with the leather or rubber strap.
I find the rubber strap on the Titanium Ingenieur even more comfortable than the Portuguese Yacht Club one actually.
Pulling the trigger, hmmm.. will keep u guys posted.
Thanks for the follow up on the strap question. Too bad, the chrono would look great on the rubber strap. I'm trying to decide between the Inge chrono black dial and the big Inge. Too many great choices! Jeff
I am not much of a fan of the current Ingenieur's nor chrono's ingeneral (even though I have a 3799) - much preferring the original, round, simple design of the original Ingenieur's but I have to say that shot of the steel chrono really has me thinking otherwise!
The black face with the mix of satin / machined and polished / "shiny" finished case really is striking and I think the black strap just makes it stand out even more - your shots seem to do the watch even more justice than the web site - maybe you could land a gig with IWC's marketing department taking shots for them :)
Still not overly fussed with the Ti but each to their own
Thanks for clarifying Sean - I do like Alligator straps, it's just that with the "heavy duty" watch like the Ingenieur I think a rubber strap works much better. I know I wouldn't take one with a leather/alligator strap mountain climbing :-) With that said though, I know we don't always wear our watches on rough adventures so why not alligator for normal wear and then another strap (rubber/bracelet/nylon) for when we go on our own "expeditions" :-)
Thanks Shing. I too was looking at the Laureus Vintage Collection (Ingenieur). It looks beautiful. Actually Blue & Red have been favorite colours of mine since my childhood days. I saw a blue watch on someones hand, it looked amazing. Thanks for your feedback. Will keep you posted on the same. Regards, MK
Hmmm - brand comparison for me is a very easy, or immensely difficult, question. I choose IWC because its designs and workmanship and finishing are incomparable. I love Baumes, Zeniths and the occasional Jaeger too, but the one that jumps and grabs me and sticks is always IWC.
I suppose these emotions jump or are drawn from a well that is found in a genuine and very real place in myself or each of us. Its hard to predict whether a person would react the same way. My personal preference is for more complicated dials (but not too much) and buttons/crowns that are not common, (common being the usual one crown two button chronograph watch) - something a little bit special that IWC always delivers.
We are meeting up tonight at the Mariott. Boy, some odd situations people put us in.
I actually like the classic watches, prefer a day/ date feature. Loved the Rolex Day/ Date perp, but kind off find it a bit "Tacky" as we put it. Would love to see a similar type in an IWC. Will pick it up immediately.
I feel many features/ complications hide the main use of a watch, know time. I am a simpleton, maybe even old fashioned for my 38 years of age.
Will keep my views simple & straight, as i always do.
