The collectors that foolowed the series here called the virtual museum, could
see that I have some cal 52's in my collection. Cal 52 is the workhorse, the
most common movement in an IWC pocket watch. So if I would buy another one, it
must be something special, it has to have something extra.

And this one certainly has. The spcial stand that came with it, the dial and
the movement are not that common, even rare to find.

The cal here is a cal52 Quality Extra. "Quality Extra" was the engravning made
for the watches with the smalest tolerances in the parts, the extra "reglage"
finetuning that IWC diid and was found on the calibers 52/53, 65/66 and
    cal.71/72.

I like the script on the dial, and when you find a dial like this, most often
inside you will find a cal 52 Quality Extra.

The watch was made 1916 ( cal ) , the case dates from 1922.

And it came in a little musterd colored box, nicely made in metal with leather
    .

What is not to like ?

    Tonny,

This is a typical travel case, as one can find often for Jaeger LeCoultre
    travel clocks from the 1960s.

When closed the case takes little space, ideal for travelling, when open
    perfect for the bed side.

Most JLC's had an alarm but not this cal. 52, I guess.

    Adrian,

    (alwaysiwc).

Congrats, Tonny, great find! I wonder what this high-grade watch was
originally purchased for? It has a fine dial too with the layers and a very
serious marine chronometer look. The font is even similar to the ones used on
the KM dials (although the 4 here has more style).
