Yesterday, Dick Liebson (whichwatch) arrived in NYC on a businsss trip. We arranged to meet for lunch and a visit to the IWC Flaghsip Boutique. I had not crossed paths with Dick for a couple of years and it was a pleasure to catch up with him.
As usual the NYC Flagship Boutique staff was very welcoming and attentive. Dawn, the Boutiqe Manager, did a splendid job as she always does. We were also honored to have Edouard d'Arbqumont, President of IWC North America, take time out of his schedule and come by for a great chat.
Dick and I met for lunch at closeby Italian restaurent. DIck ate a healthy, good for you salad, while I, on the other hand, went for risotto with pesto sause and crab meat. I only got through 50% of mine.
It was only a couple of blocks from the restaurant over to the 54th and Madison Boutique. I had to do a selfie, for sure.
Dick had a couple of items on his agenda for the visit. His Mark XVIII need to go in for some spa treatment and he wanted to have a look at the new Heritage Ti references. Here is where Dawn and crew did their best to make us comfortable and welcome.
Settling in for our visit, some coffee, and conversation.
Not long after settling into the compfy couches in the Pilot's section of the Boutique, we were joined by Edouard. He spend a very enjoyeable hour with us. The conversatons ranged from how did you first get hooked on IWC to what's coming down the pike for IWC and Collectors. Edouard is a very good freind of we Collectors; I can attest to that statement.
After our discussions, out came some of the Ti Heritage models for the show and tell.
Dick's wrist, not mine,
I failed to get a picture of the Mark XVIII Heritage. Damn. With a little bit of enabling by yours truly and a lot of sefl enabling, he did add a new IWC to his collecton. I will let him reveal his choice.
I had two things to get done while there too. I swithced out the origianl DFB Strap that was getting a bit worn for a black Alligator stap. I really think a BP deserves the rivets.
Lastly, I changed over to the summer shoes for the CF3. I have a bit of traveling coming up and the SS bracelet is perfect. Since the tan, canvas one I had been wearing is a devil to remove, I had them make the swtich for me. I was a challenge tor them as well.
It was great to see Dick in the City once again.
I think I am going back on Saturday to hook up with a few other well know guys. More on that later.
