As many of you know, this foprum ahs recently been subjected to a sophisticated Spam Bot attack --where a program can post automatically multiple spam messages. Each attack involve about 65 posts, some new discussions and some added to current discussions. Over the past several days I'd estimate that I have deleted over 1000 posts and revoked the user status of about a dozen posters.

The IT agency IWC uses is imnplementing a number of steps to prevent these posts. At least for the time being, this includes disabling the link function. You can't make a post using the little "chain" link icon so a person automatically clicks on your link. Now, you need to just post the link address into your post, and users will have to copy that address to a new window or tab in their browser.

It's slower and not as efficient, and may not be permanent. But we need to do this for the time being to avoid those Spam Bots.

    Thanks for your understanding.

Good news. These spam bots have been driving me crazy. Anything we can do to help thwart them is fine with me.

They were like a bunch of drunks gate crashing a very special party, unwelcome uninvited and unruly. I hope that's the last we see of them and having fed numerous emails to MF with their profiles, I fully appreciate the efforts that IWC and MF have done to clear them out. Glad to see the back of them, hopefully forever!
Well done IWC and MF, dare I say I was amazed that the plug was not pulled on the forum for new entries.

I agree...it's not an inconvenience if we can exterminate these pesky bots!

Good to hear that the evil powers have been overthrown, at least for now!

    MF:

FYI...I went to search the archieves and entered RIGHT WRIST. The results contained a number of the "Spam" postings dated Dec. 18.

Not sure if it isolated to my search or if there are many more hiding in the archieves. You may already be aware of this, if not , hope this helps in the cleanup process.

    Best Always,

    Andy
