I'm sorry to read this, but not here

Here at home it goes fairly quickly I must say. At work it takes quite a bit more, but not 2 minutes. Both are on IE. Does anyone here know what is the matter, apart of just saying it is the forum software? or will this be too much OT?

    Kind regards,
Paul, wearing steel VC Portuguese, just admired it again, and again

    I'm having major problems accessing

the members' forum - the page is loading it closes with IE reporting a problem with the site......if I am persistent (and patient) enough I can sometimes get on, like now (after almost a dozen attempts).
I don't know if the problem is at my end, but I do know I'm not having any difficulties with any other sites.
I'd appreciate suggestions of possible remedies, but I probably won't be able to access them ,)

    I've had issues as well.

I hit the stop button on Explorer so the page will load. Otherwise, it takes awhile or logs me back off.

    Something strange on mine....

it takes as long as yours. But if I hit the red X it loads immediately. Maybe that is what David has reported, too.

For the past two weeks I haven't been able to get on the forum. All I get is an error code at the welcome page.

i have been for a cople of weeks...

and then when it does load and you try and reply to some posts, you are asked for your username and password again. then you have to go through the page load again. hence my low post rate recently.
    it's much faster today though!

    About loading the page..

It takes between 10 and 30 seconds for me. Most of the time is cause by processing on the PC itself, building up the list of articles in the 'thread' view. That's why the page immediately shows when you hit the 'stop' button.

On my laptop screen at 1920 pixels wide, I noticed that the horizontal bar above the post gets longer while it builds up the page. Sort of a progress bar I guess.

I do experience other problems since a few weeks too: I can't post text with accents anymore from Firefox, but it works fine from Internet Explorer.

    Kind regards,

    Clemens

    No problems here

The IWC pages loads on my Macbook Pro as they have always done. Same speed in Safari and Firefox. We are talking a few seconds.

10 to 30 seconds for me too....

Yes- for the last 3 or 4 weeks it has been longer than previous- between 10 and 30 seconds now for the main index- once or twice it didn't do anything at all and I had to try later. And I also have my photobucket crashing problem- see lower post.
    Cheers Louis.

Could it be because the Index now has 6 months of

Posts. Which is quite a chunk of Data. The German forum is much quicker , as they have fewer posts for the same time span.
    Cheers Louis.

    Difference between PC/XP/Windows and Mac...

At home, on all my Macs, and even on the road with my iPhone with wireless access point - the forum loads near instantly.

When using my corporate-issued Windows XP machine, at home with the same internet connection as my Mac, running IE - the Forum page comes up blank with the exception of the menus at top and black nav-bar at bottom - and about 20-30 seconds later, the forum threads are displayed.

So, the issue to me seems to be "localized" and has nothing much to do with www.iwc.ch or the forum content- it is dependent on the throughput of your internet connection AND the type of client you are using.

    Just my observation.

    But why is it that

I have no trouble or long loading times on any other sites? Some (like Realtor.com) have even more content and tons of bandwidth hogging photos.
