Your friend Google can help:
www.stetefeld-design.de/eta/eta2.htm
Too many articles on the web about this topic ?!
Thx but I was expecting something about a tad more direct comparison: though this article is excellent regarding different rotor winding mechanisms and I'm quite fine with German too but unfortunately this article does not mention at all the Pellaton winding system so the differences - what I'd like to know more about - could neither be mentioned this way.
Either you or someone else knowing a specific link are also highly welcome - unfortunately Google and other search engines really take me into a way too large sea, as you've also mentioned...
Hi Roberto,
A more than excellent review of the Pellaton winding system is explained in the IWC ref. book by Toelke and King, including pro's and con's and many drawings.
In this section also other automatic winding systems are discussed and at the end of the chapter it is said that in the 1950s, over 200 patents were granted to many Swiss manufacturers, dealing with different automatic winding systems. This means that it was a hot topic in that era.
However, it is hard to print here all the available information from that book.
Kind regards,
Adrian,
(alwaysiwc).
Thx Adrian! Unfortunately I do not have that book so I'm slowly slowly giving it up... :( what I already know is that the Pellaton system is a version of the pawl winding systems. So far so good... As from now on IWC produces in-house (chronograph) calibers with both, even on iwc.com there could be a direct comparison article...
Best,
Robert
