While I just love the original strap on my 5022 Portuguese Perpetual Calendar, it is 5 & 1/2 years old and has darkened to a beautiful, soft, rich patina. There are some signs of wear now showing - so I called my Authorized IWC Dealer last week, and the new, dark brown alligator Santoni strap for deployant has arrived. Very quickly! I am very pleased. These new straps are executed with perfection.

hail Santoni ! thanks for sharing Ardoise. your pics show the texture and firmness and softness which I felt before I am glad to be to see yet another example of something I am likely to do in the future.

And a great strap it is. The color gradation of these straps is unique and really adds to the look of the watch.
    Good choice and renewal.

Very very nice Santoni straps Ardoise! The next step is to 'season' the straps. Enjoy your new 'watch'.

That is indeed a beautiful pairing. I look forward to seeing some Santoni straps soon. I have one in mind form the Jubilee Portuguiser.

A terrific combination, it looks indeed extremely nice. It depends on the time of the year, right now I feel more for brown straps and this one is just beautiful soft looking.

Yes. Thanks for the comments (and that strange advrt with the cat).

Regarding the strap quality, it is impressive from the first moment of handling it. The color, thickness, texture, softness and the lining are all very fine. The stitching and edge work is very good.

The original, IWC straps are also nice, but there is something very distinctive, and superior to the touch and eye on the Santoni strap.

That looks spectacular, Richard. I didn't think ardoise could look any better, but now it does!

I can think of several of my watches that would look great with one of those. I hope that next week at the Watch Time event I will get to see one in person.

That really is a rich looking combination! The strap has quite some depth, adding to the experience. Enjoy both watch and strap. Somehow I missed you post, just saw it for the first time.

    Kind regards,

Great result. Get's me thinking (and my checkbook thinning)- wouldn't it be great to be able to get a trouser's belt out of the exact same leather as these watch straps? Does anyone know if this is possible?

Rich, great combo- it makes your already classic watch even more perfect!

Richard, who would have thought that a leather strap can get to look, so much better. I've always liked the standard IWC straps - but as your photos show, these new straps are absolutely amazing!

    Thanks for posting.

    Best regards

My AD (in Manhattan) does not seem interested in helping me find a Santoni strap for my Portuguese. Actually on a few occasions now, they just try to convince me that these do not exist. Are there other ways to get the straps?

    Thanks
