Today I went with my siblings to the "Glacier d'Aletsch".
For those who are not familiar with this famous glacier, let me give you some informations about it:
-location: Valais (this is one "canton" located in the south of Switzerland)
-length: 24km long
-surface: 96km2
-mass: 27mia of tons of ice
-the biggest glacier in the Alps
-it started to melt around 1870 (which is quite late, and its melting was constant from that time to nowadays.
-UNESCO classified since 2001
Enough, I let you admire the Swiss Alps now!
If you want to see it, there are plenty possibilities. As walking from the telecabin station to see the glacier was too easy for us, we decided to have a 6h walk. I regret having taken this silly decision :-), but no regrets about the landscape!
Thanks for watching!
