I have just brought a brand new Mark XVI from an IWC AD, but was wondering if there is any fail safe way of ensuring the watch is authentic in every way?

Isn't buying from am Authorized Dealer sufficient? I guess you could have the watch checked by Schaffhausen, but is that necessary here?
Thanks Michael, just say I did want to get the watch authenticized by IWC, how would I go about it???
You can write info@iwc.com
The issue is shipping to/from Switzerland. An AD can help, but there's several steps in the process. Also, for a newer watch, IWC won't issue an extract from its archives.
How long would an AD be an AD if he was selling replicas, copies, fakes? SOme so called replicas are wrong externally let alone the movement or the quality of finish let alone the quality of the movement. There should be an outer cardboard box with IWC marks, an inner elaborate box and with all paperwork like instructions guarentee and card. Surely you have all this! So what is to making you nervous?
