    Hi,

I have recently acquired what I hope is an authentic IWC movement. I am led to believe that it was produced in 1898 /1899 and the case has the serial number of 218246 with the Swiss standing bear mark. I am also led to believe that it has a fully signed IWC Probus Shafusia on the dial plate but this I am unable to see. The top plate is stamped S&Co. and it also has stamped 'Peerless' with a serial number of 192136.

Would someone be able to confirm whether this is a genuine IWC piece and what Calibre it is

I have some photos I have taken but am unsure how to upload them to this post. Hoping someone can help

    Thanks
    Trevor

    All looks quite good.

The movement was started to be produced 1898 and maybe sold 1899. The PEERLESS marking indicates it was sold to Stauffer & Son Co in London. The marking S&S Co. is OK together with PEERLESS.
It is a caliber 57 18lig. with a height of 7 mm. It was the simplest movement (and cheapest) built that time.

It is a nice watch in good shape, just enjoy it.

    regards
