One of the many great things about this forum is the opportunity to meet and make new friendships with forum members all over the world. My wife, Dorothy and I returned this weekend from Rome and had the honor to spend a wonderful evening with Roberto ("flyrobfly") and his special lady, Cristina. Roberto took us out for an amazing Roman dinner...and we even took the opportunity to call Argiris. Roberto bought his vintage IWC pocket watch and I had my trusty Spitfire Mark XVI...so we at least had some IWC content to further enhance the evening. Thank you Roberto for your generousity and hospitality! I feel fortunate to be part of this community.

Wonderful evening with Dorothy and Jim!

Dear Jim, first of all I must say you are a lucky man, you have such a nice and kind woman beside you!

It was my pleasure to meet you, thank you for the wonderful evening spent together, talking about watches but not only.

I still remember the laughters we had when we talked to Arigris while he was busy watching the footbal match on tv.

An evening to remeber for me and Cristina also, I'm already thinking about when we're going to meet and I can't wait to see you again.

This forum is really a community I feel linked to, thanks to people like you that help make this place a very special place.

    Arrivederci amico mio e grazie!

    Roberto

P.S. Are Dorothy and you still convinced Cristina deserves a special gift for her next birthday? :)

Jim, you have more guts than me...

...wearing a Bolo tie in Rome! I have two (from my late father-in-law) but never figured that I should take one to a collectors' meeting.

I love the universality of this forum --how you all met up in Rome, just as others have done elsewhere. IWC is a common language.

Thanks for the really nice photos.

With the boots and the belt buckle,....

everyone correctly deduces I'm just a typical hopelessy provincial Texan. It provides me with some leeway I probably should not be accorded. :<))

    Best regards,
    Jim

Good to see you having fun!

Just as others wrote, these special moments where you meet people from the Forum are really great. I have fond memories of several of such meetings and hope to attend many more!

    Kind regards,

    Clemens
