Had a little 2 man gtg in Bond Street yesterday when this little beauty landed on my wrist!

so with still a painful ankle I could not run out of the preview of the George Daniels auction at Sothebys with that on my wrist as judging by Rave's walking speed he would soon have caught up with me! It is an old college friend's dream watch but he is careful with his money and thinks spending more than £3k on a watch is lunacy! So welcome to the asylum everyone!

Rave dragged me into all sorts of shops in the Bond Street area and we saw new and old in the process. Rave has scanner eyes that were identifying faster than I was locating our favourite brand. Some watches that we saw from other brands we agreed were not to our taste at all and speaking for myself only not even as a present, I'd sell them or give them on.

We saw several of the new pilots including ceramic Miramar BP, WT and a first for both of us was the Portuguese GC. On the second hand side I saw and was encouraged to go hands on with a DV perpetual chrono. I did not give it wrist time though as that is like picking up a cute kitten or puppy that then instantly bonds with you. I did not pull the trigger for two very good reasons, I was under strict orders upon pain of banishment to garden shed and until I get new glasses I have no idea as to what the dial said for the day month or year. In fact the year could have been set anywhere between 2002 or 2022, it's that small for my vision. Shame really as it is a little beauty that would have complimented my 1850.

Greg, sounds like a fun mini GTG. Ralph is always interesting to be with.
We were all together when he purchased the Santoni strap in the NYC Boutique a few weeks back. It looks great on that watch.

    Thanks for posting

Sounds fun Greg. 5251 keeps popping up in front of me. It's a must to try on in August.

Greg, that orange backing on the strap is a dead give away on who's watch that is.

Rave, has many fine talents - and a fancy for fine watches is just one of them. You would be well served to take a leaf out his book - and as you say, that beauty would make a fantastic partner for and compliment indeed your 1850 perfectly.

Rave, excellent that you could finally motivate Greg to finally follow the doctors advice (even his Mrs/ gave up trying) of "exercise the ankle" ! Sounds like you two had fun.

    Thanks for sharing.

Dear Ralph really does have hawk eyes, he can spot IWCs in a window full of watches and some brands leave him cold. What was surprising was how dull the Breguet boutique was from the outside and there was me salivating in anticipation (Breguet in UK have very limited outlets) only to be disappointed at the display, but they may have insurance rules about how loaded the window can be, or alternatively maybe a bunch of tourists had been shopping! Doubt if an Olympic team had been shopping for Breguets! Unless it was a basketball team. Doubtful mix there IMO!

What was so delightful was by invitation winding the 5251 with its tiny crown, it's so easy and yet it's modern day equivalent has with some forum members been back for a new crown to save fingers! If only it met with the bank managers approval and try as I may Ralph refuses to believe he's got a fake.

Nad, I'll swear Ralph was testing my resolve when he ushered me into the shop to check out the DV P Chrono, mind you I was hardly kicking and screaming to stay outside!
