I would like to open a discussiom about experiences and places to acquire an IWC. This is a very important part of the experience of buying a great watch. Not just the product itself (all of us love IWC products) but when and where it happened counts as part of our life journey. Probably we will leave our watches to somebody else and the place and the circunstacies where it was bought is probably the most important part

Just a few days ago a bought a Portofino at Paris IWC store at Vendome Place. I had great experience. I was enjoying vacations and this watch will bring important moments about this travel forever.

Welcome to the Collectors forum and congratulations on your Portofino. I agree the purchase of an IWC watch is a great experience and perhaps there a lot of us who show loyalty to a particular AD. I personally buy all my new IWC's from the same AD -who over a number of years has become a great friend. I am always made very welcome in the store even when I turn up without my wallet.

I got mine from the Bucherer showroom in Interlaken.
It was a great experience. I walked in and asked if they had IWC, and the lady across the counter looked at me and smiled, "Yes".
She took me down stairs to the showroom, and on the left I saw my beauty. There was no discussion/ no confusion, the family was with me and the decision was unanimous. The lady was very courteous and helped us in every way, without us asking.
Bottomline, I was happy when I left with my watch. Would like to visit other stores too, but this experience will always be cherished.

We can't recommend specific dealers because we're non-commercial. But the advice is good --get to know one or two dealers. It can make a huge difference.

All my buying experiences were great. It was always about the conversation, about the specific watch, details of it, the brand, watches in general. A calm yet exciting atmosphere, with an inevitable climax near the end, the moment you say that you want to buy the watch, how much you like it. Depending on the watch, some talk about price. The wrap up, you walking out with that beautiful package. Yes, great.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

Dubail store in Paris George V has a nice collection, including some very limited pieces. A visit there to check the IWC display is a very nice experience.

    Dear BAS Dekkers,

Several researches show that most of the purchasing pleasure experience is not related it the product itself, but for the research and location. Once it is once of the 4 key aspects when making a mkt strategy. Some companies really nailed this aspect, I do not need to mention the Apple work on this area.
Watches go to a next level, the location can be related a nice vacation, a business deal closed, etc. Locations and moments to remember. Based on it several retailers got it and try to provide the best experience to buyers. Other do not get it, sales people barely understand the difference in movement or even among brand. As watch making enthusiasts, I believe we have to highlight places and dealers on which provided nice experience to IWC fans. Regards.

Agree. By definition experiences are subjective and this is what we are looking for. What can be a great service for somebody can not be for other people.
Reason why I believe we could share the location, service and experience that made the buyer feel good.

I was in NY and I saw that IWC will have a new store open soon. Great to have a IWC in the big apple. Salespeople from retailers at fifth ave are not that friendly. I wish that IWC hires watch lovers to support us.

I purchased my Portofino at Solaris Jewellers in Toronto (Bay St). The Gentlemen that I spoke to on three different occasions was the most informed and knowledgeable watch salesman I have even spoken with. He understood that I was not buying on the first day and spent 2 hours with me, telling me about the Richemont Group and more information then I could absorb. A tremendous experience to purchase from him, a third generation jeweler.

For anyone looking to visit a unique IWC retailer in Toronto, Solaris is it.

I appreciate everyone's comments here --but, PLEASE, no endorsements of specific dealers here. I know people mean to be helpful, but we've got to be non-commercial on this forum.

    Thanks.

Oh, I apologize Michael. I did not read the above post. You are right, I am trying to be helpful and to show someone the direction I went.

    Once again, my apologies.
