... best way to start the week: a mini-GTG @ IWC Boutique Vienna :-) So thankful for the great hospitality of Boutique-Manager Michael Hofer and his team (again).

And it was a great pleasure for me to meet Fritz the first time - some of you know him. We talked a lot about - guess what - watches. Fritz got himself a new strap for his Spitfire and a deployment buckle for his really beautiful IW-5442 F.A. Jones.
And I had the chance to see the new Pilots in flesh - what a fantastic morning!
And especially for the new BP and Fritz´ F.A. Jones I definitely wore the right jacket ;-)
    See the stunning pictures:

Christian, thanks for the post but I must admit I am a bit disappointed...

How come you did not leave with that beautiful blue Big Pilot on your wrist!?!?! =)

    Best,

The 5442 has a beautifully decorated movement. It's amazing how the "9" completes the Big Pilot dial.

Christian - I see the team are enabling already, so I won't pile on... except to say didn't you tell me once that every IWC collection should have a Big Pilot?! ;-)

Great to see the photos mate and, of course, Michael and the Vienna boutique again.

Fritz - that FA Jones is magnificent!

    Hi Christian,
Nice pictures and story, thanks for sharing.
The F.A. Jones is a stunner!

"Quote: Micheal, best IWC host of Vienna ;-)"...I really can second that and I hope to make it to Vienna in the near future again.

    Cheers Chris

Thang, I understand your disappointment but I´m no whippersnapper anymore (though I look like one)- in the meanwhile I learned to enjoy pleasant anticipation. Let´s say I keep the BP in suspense ;-)

Hi, Ralph! The first one who didn´t want me to jump over he edge lol
And yes, it´s amazing how one numeral (not only) changes the whole appearance - expecially in comparison to the PP BP:
    i42.photobucket.com/albums/e312/uhrvoll/BPs_zpsbydgzulj.jpg
my "perfect" BP would be the new BP with applied numerals - what you think?
    Best,

Yes, this is what I told you ;-) And still it´s current for me!
    Did you heed my advice?

    Hey Christian,

I agree with this. Applied numerals with a 9, in blue for the LPP theme, would be ideal.

But I have a question for you (and others): the St Ex style numerals or the sans serif style?

I'm torn as the St Ex style numerals obviously tie the LPP line to the author and the St Ex pieces also have more elegant hands and the detailed seconds track, which are also hallmarks of the brown dial lineage. It's hard for me to decouple that font and those design elements from the St Ex pieces.

On the other hand, maybe the sans serif font is the new clean direction for the LPP line? It certainly ties in well with the return of the 9 and the triangle and dots to their original position.

Hey Christian, if you're enquiring as to whether I own a BP yet, I have to say not yet.

I think the left one is close to perfect. But you're correct: The right one should have applied numerals.

Wonderful GTG that finally took place between two Austrian collectors - both with amazing collections!

Glad you made it happen gents!
