Big Pilot 5009 leather strap, rubber side loosens

Hi all!

Tried to search after similar topics but without any luck. Hence the new thread.

I have a BP ref 5009 that I bought brand new in oct 2015 (less than 6 months old) and where the rubber protection layer on the sides of the leather strap have begun to loosen from the strap. The strap is in absolute mint condition and has never ever been in contact with water or similar (only used the watch at the office). Were not able to post photos but if anyone knows how to attach photos please let me know and I will uppload it.

Anyone here who has had the same problem? For a watch in this price range one would think that the strap should withstand at least the most cautious of usage? And is there any way that this issue can be resolved?

Very curious indeed. I still have the original strap on my 5004 and have had it since 2008 without any kind of peeling like this. I even bought a second strap at the time so I would have the appropriate replacement but I have not yet needed it. I would venture to guess that your strap may have come from a different supplier than mine. It may well be covered under your guarantee so you might first talk to your AD. I have been "lurking in the shadows" on the forum for some time but never posted before. It's nice to see that there still are forums on the web that houses polite and nice people with good manners. Always a good atmosphere and loads of knowledge.

This is my second IWC watch (Aquatimer 2000 is the second one). I have never ever had any issues with that one and are very pleased with my new "family member", but it sure feels a bit sad that the flawless finish of the BP aren't held up by the strap. Hopefully IWC see the value of replacing the strap as quiet a good investment relative the cost of a new strap.
