So we all know the Swiss are famous for fine watches, chocolates, cheeses… and tennis.

The last of which is primarily due to the classy legend himself - Roger Federer.

And yet with only a population of circa 8 million – they’ve been able to produce another world top 5 tennis player… Stan Wawrinka.

The two came up against each other at the year-end ATP Tennis Tour Finals in London.

Arriving at the 02 arena in South-East London.

vs the GOAT himself Roger Federer

The tournament only consists of the top 8 mens players of the year, playing a unique round-robin format until elimination rounds. Tonight’s match was a semi-final between the two Swiss.

It’s a great atmosphere and very well executed tournament.

It’s on its 6 year in London and will likely go to 7, although was only originally supposed to be 5 before changing cities.

Not quite the smooth as butter - reliable as (swiss) clockwork - Federer like a couple of nights ago obliterating Andy Murray 6-0 6-1.

But yet the Maestro finds a way - and fights back against FOUR match points to win a 3-set thriller. Best of luck in tomorrow’s Finals Final against Djokovic.

    Thanks for looking.

    Regards,
    Thang

    Thang -

    Thanks for the report!

Do you ever wonder what people are thinking when they see watch guys taking pictures of their watches? (LOL)

Tracy, if I were just taking one quick snap probably not. But because I usually stand there taking more than a few - twisting my arm angle to avoid distracting reflections on the dial while trying to compose/frame somewhat of an interesting shot... indeed I'm sure they all think 'what is that clown doing'? =P

Great report, thank you! They really put up a fantastic show for these kind of events, a treat for visitors and players.

The Swiss are such an achieving people, I admire their ability to excel on many fields of endeavour: watches, trains and tunnels, hotels. And when I stop to admire that, I start to admire the countryside that is so beautiful and challenging. So, go Federer! I have nothing against Djokovic, but it would be great if Federer could do it once again.

    Kind regards,
    Paul
