hi all, I'm new to IWC and have decided on a Big Pilot. I prefer the look of
the IW500912 but it is now discontinued. I have found a watch local to me from
a private seller but he does not have the box or any of the original IWC
    paperwork.

The serial number is 6061385, is there any way of me checking if this is the
correct serial number for this model and also if the watch has been reported
    lost or stolen ?

if I purchase the watch and send it to IWC for a full service will I be issued
with a new card ? I will then just be short of the box and operating
instructions which I presume will be available on the likes of eBay ?

    thanks

    steve

    Hi Steve,

    Welcome to the forum!!

IW500912 may be discontiuned but why not go for the IW501001?

Pretty much the same watch with a newer movement.

If you're dead set on this particular piece I would suggest asking for more
information from the seller. I personally would not buy a watch without boxes
    & papers.

    Hi and welcome here.

when you buy a used watch you always buy the seller.

you should consider that the watch might not be fake but it might be stolen.
If you buy for a reputable seller/second hand watch store, if it ever proves
to be stolen you will at least get your money back (eventually) and more
important you will have proof that you did not steal it....

So if you decide on a second hand one do consider the above

    Good luck
