Since they just received a LPP BPPC, that triggered a reach out. They knew I would appreciate a photo. Wouldn't be surprised if they send a car for pick-up too.

Must not show weakness...Must not show weakness.

Andy, a man who shows weakness just confirms he is a real man. The era of the tough man who is never weak is gone. Feel free to show weakness;-)

Andy, be STRONG! Face the reality...

Stand up to it... the pain whilst excruciating is fleeting (your wallet soon forgets it) the weak knees at seeing it on your wrist time and time again, over years to come! That's what it's about.

    Magnificent piece.

Go on - make it a Merry Christmas.

This reminds me of a story.

A friend met an owner of a tree farm in Germany, which existed over 500 years. He asked how much the farmer made by cutting down and selling a few trees every year and was told about 2%. My friend then asked "why don't you sell the land and invest the proceeds in bonds --you'd make 5% each year?" The tree farmer thought for a minute and replied "Yes, but then I wouldn't have a tree farm."

Similarly here --the money is transitory. The watch is not. ;)

Andy, go for it. It's the best thing out there. Of all the superlative watches I own, the Big little Prince is the watch I want to put on every morning. I have to force myself not to wear it. And I never even liked Pilot watches before.

    Andy,

look at it this way: you wouldn't be buying the watch because of the boutique's recommendation, but despite it. You are an independent entity making your own decisions. Not to mention that the Little Prince on his asteroid is one of the nicest, most appropriate and tasteful distinguishing details in all watchdom.

Must admit that I did not expect so many "cheerleader" responses. I also should reemphasize that I am NOT a gold guy per se, but do admire certain models cased in 'white' gold as well as Platinum. Having said that, the LPP PC is by any standard one of the most beautiful watches introduced this year. My wish (and I believe others have expressed this too ), is that IWC offer some PC's in steel variations. How good would that be ?

Reaching out to me with new arrivals/information through e-mail is just another way the Boutique extends their excellent customer service and keeps me "in the loop" of what's happening in the world of IWC. I appreciate the personal touch.

I no longer consider myself a newbie as I have learned so much since joining the Forum almost two years ago. There is so much more to learn and am eager to digest it all. So in watchtalk terminology, given the many encouragement responses to this posting, is this what is considered a "Gang Enabling" ?

@David...noticed yours was the first reply. What were the odds of that ? LOL

@Mike...Is Nicole helping me with a decision ? Only if she is offering to pay or is a "gift with purchase" ! I'll learn to wear gold if that's the case.

Thanks all for quickly coming to my aid.

    Andy,

honestly, if you walk into an Irish pub late in the evening and ask the patrons whether you should have a drink, what kind of answer do you expect? So much about gang enabling.

I can't promise you Nicole will pay for the watch. Or deliver it to you. I'm still trying to ... There is absolutely no way to tastefully wrap up this attempt at humor. Just get the watch. You'll love it.

Andy, I too for many years until last year stood fast on the path of "no gold watches for me" (other than white gold). Then along came a watch...

A watch that in its red gold case simply impressed me. From the moment I saw it I was impressed. On fact so impressed by the Portuguse Classic Chrno with white dial, I was - I ordered it on the spot!

And As you write - the Petite Prince Big Pilot Perpetual is simply a magnificent watch. So seriously, if you like the watch (and you do)and if disposable watch funds are there - go for it! You won't disappoint yourself and like me, when you see it on the wrist you soon will forget that"golden rule".
