In a recent post (sorry for not quoting it but I do not remember the
particular one) someone asked if a particular watch had a special box and it
reminded me a discussion that I had a few months ago in the Munchen boutique
regarding IWC boxes their usage and ideas about evolving them.

i was actually stunned than some buyers decide not to take the box which in my
opinion, if you later on decide (or have) to sell it, it reduces their price.

Personally I use most of my boxes, for example two of them to store watch
    straps...

i was wondering, how many of you actually use the boxes and do you think that
    IWC should change them?

    cheers

I agree with you on the value.... I like complete sets! Having said that, like
most, the boxes are collecting dust somewhere, but I don't use them. Rather
have a 6-8 watch box than a lot of large individual ones. Don't fit the bank
    vault either...

I do think boxes will change the coming year, be patient ;-)

    Regards,

    Bob

Personally I love the boxes I have 3 currectly and keep the watches that came
with each box in them. I go fro special editons so they have plaques listing
there production number and name on them. I think it is crazy to get rid of
them. The box is as much apart of the watch as the strap its self in my
opinion. I would however love to see an upgrate on these. Maybe something like
what the 150 year pocket watch came in! Now that is a stunning box

It always amazes me that some people don't take their boxes when they purchase
their watches. Maybe it's to safe the taxes and duties when they bring them
    home who knows.

I know that when I'm looking for a preowned watch I always look for complete
kits. The extra cost is worth it to me.

As for my own, I keep all my boxes and materials as it came from the factory.
Everything from the external cardboard to the inner protective fabric. I
generally need XL straps when I purchase watches so thats where the standard
straps and all the manuals get stored as well.

In regards to IWC changing them, it really makes no difference to me although
I have to admit they are quite plain.

I sell my boxes immediately(!) Had some discussions on the forum before (..)

i do not use them, they take to much space and i do not buy watches to sell
    them later on.

currently i have four iwc puches for three watches and that works perfact for
    me.

I know that IWC is changing there policy about bozes in the nearby future and
that could make a huge difference (also for me)

the money i got from selling the boxes got me a nice used AT.

For whom is interested (I have a split-minute box cpl for sale).

    cheers

I have a box with my 3717 but it has DISINTEGRATED.

I left the box in the closet and after a few years the rubber coating turned
    gooey.

Maybe it is the humidity as it was pretty tropical where I left it.

I love complete sets and I am pretty upset his happened.

I am not sure if this is a one-off but please store your boxes in a cool dry
place, use silica gel if you happen to live in humid environment.

    Has anyone else experienced this?
