I am currently looking at a pre loved Big Pilot 5002, which the seller says has been serviced and has the original fish crown on it, My question is, Im sure I’ve read in the past that there was an issue with the threads on the original fish crown on the 5002 so if it came into the hands of IWC they would replace it, Am i anywhere near on this issue? Grateful for Any help.

My 5002 had the fish crown replaced with a Probus on serve in SH. I think that is what will happen. Fortunately, I did get the original crown back, but sometimes they will not do that.

Hi, So the fact that the seller sez its been serviced yet still wears the fish crown seems a little unrealistic ?
    Thanks for replying, Vince.

It may have been serviced by a non authorized IWC service center. They would not have to replace the crown. Or maybe, he got lucky. In any case, form what I know, there can be a problem with moisture getting into the movement without the proper crown set.

IF the crown has no problems, I don't think they replace it with a service. So could be possible that the seller is telling the truth.

I would specifically and and very clearly request that the crown NOT be replaced, just to be safe.
