Nearly all c.71 and c.72 went to GB. This halfhunter was also imported by Stauffer for the english market.
    The movement nr. is 385389.
The picture tell more than words!

The first fish tail half hunter I ever have seen.
And what a special device for fine regulation!
    Thanks for posting.
Rolf Birkenkaemper is watching too. I would love to see one of his special watches (=:
    Kind regards,

Yes you are right! The number 4 picture is a military version open face.
    Sorry for the mistake!

    Beautiful, outstanding watch and movement.
Do you have the original 'etui' case, too?
I'll ask, because I have bought a half-hunter same dial dial without brand punch as yours in the late 80ies with case from an Irish jeweller, Dublin.
It was Adrian who later dedicated later this watch to a Stauffer GB import.
Unfortunately no c.71 or c.72.....but I didn't thought of IWC at this time. ;-)

    Thanks for posting.

    Kind regards

    Hi Hajo!

Unfortunately I don't have the original "etui"case for that watch.
As far as I know Stauffer-watches have not the IWC branding on the dials. If they have, the branding was done later for better selling the watches (not done by IWC!)

No I don't think so! The open face military is another fantastic watch, which was made with more accuracy. I have that item also in my collection and another open face civilian fishtail. All are very different and rare! But as I am very interested in halfhunters, I am glad that I have got it!

    Hi Hans,
apologize my delay. I asked you, because I have bought a no-branded golden half-hunter in the 70ies with the original "etui" of the jeweller West&Son, Dublin on an antique market in Dublin during a Bundesmarine visit. Adrian later .....2005/2006(! ;)told me that this watch an IWC peerles Stauffer one, as I asked hin whether he might have an idea of the destiny/brand.
Unfortunantely, imageshack has closed teh account and is not able to replace the old pictures. So I haven't a picture available at once.
