    The old amd new versions of the c. 64 hunters are nearly the same. I know that there are differences between the mainspring clicks and the diameters of the movement. But what about the hights of the movements, are they exactly the same?
    Who can help?

    Hallo Herr Dr. Aberle!

    1892 = H 4,6
    1897 = H 4,7
    from 1906 onwards = H 4,2
    as well from 1906 onwards reduction of the diameter from 28 mm = 12 1/2 lig to 27 mm = 12 lig.

    Hope this helps!

    Regards

    Hello Thomas König, nice to hear from you!
    I had feared that. I need a spare part for a "newer" c64 , hoping that an earlier movement would be usable. This is due to the different height unfortunately not the case.

    Regards
    H.A.

    Thomas, thanks for sharing the knowledge. While I knew of the existance of height and ligne I was not in the knowledge of the existence of 3 different Cal. heights. Now, I need to start to re-inventarize my Cal. 64 in my collection.

    Hi I think the 3 main versions of the c.64 (and the c.63) can be distinguished the same way as the c.52/53. (The c.52/53 has some versions more)

    The three main types are

    Mod 1888: Version up to 1893 : assymetrical (one sided) ancre coque and one screw in the winding wheels.

    Mod 1894: 1894 up to approx 1906: Symmetrical ancre bridge and 1 screw per winding wheel.

    Mod 1907: symmertical ancre bridge and three screws per windong wheel-

    And then there is later (mainly from 1917 of the "Mod 1907" only) also the "Tirette" (T)- version for the c.64 used mainly in wrist watches.

    regards

    Ralph

    P.S: I was just checking my pharmacy and what a pleasure, I could find the three main versions of the c.64. Top the oldest one Mod 1888, bottom left Mod 1894 and bottom right the Mod 1907

    Sorry for teh bad picture quality it was just a shot at bad light.

    PSPS: For the Height, I think they did not really distinguished the height so accuratly by the 1/10 of a mm, they just called all of them H4

    Ralph

    the height indeed differs. I have a nice watch unfortunately missing some pieces. So I tried to buy another movement to gain spares from it. So i could compare - and learn that I bought the wrong movement. Anyhow: Now I have some good comparison material.

    BTW: If somebody has a spare winding stem for a hunter C. 64 last generation allowing to wind the watch and to open the cover lid ....

    Dear Thomas

    I agree, the pieces are not interchangeable between the "versions" (generations) of the c.64 momvement and the height may be slightly differernt. Slso the diameter differs a bit, so also the diameter of the wheels could be differernt. But the "H4" classification of IWC could be identical for all of them.

    regards Ralph.
